Upper School Academic Information
Grades 6-12
Middle School Curriculum, 6 – 8
At the Middle School level, students will take a rigorous course load of college preparatory classes including English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Honors courses in select subjects will be available for qualified students. Bible and weekly chapel services are a regular part of the curriculum.
Music, Physical Education, Art, and Life Skills are also offered.
High School Curriculum, 9-12
At the High School level, students will take a rigorous course load of college preparatory classes including English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Honors and AP courses in select subjects will be available for qualified students. Bible and weekly chapel services are a regular part of the curriculum.
Music, Physical Education, Speech, and Drama, are some of the electives offered.
High School Graduation
A minimum of 24 credits (Carnegie Units) are normally required for graduation. These credits consist of a combination of the following:
4 credits English
3 credits Social Studies, which includes Government, Geography, U. S. History, World History, Economics and Psychology
4 credits Science, which includes Physical Science, Biology and Chemistry.
4 credits Math, which includes Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. Calculus is optional for seniors if they have completed the other 4 maths.
3 credits Foreign Language/Fine Arts/CTAE
1 credit Physical Education/Health
2 credits Computer (only if schedule allows)
4 credits Bible
Remaining credits are electives: Annual, Teacher/Office Aide,
Speech, Life Management,
Drama, Marine Biology, Anatomy,
Spanish III, and many Virtual classes are available.
BBS is a college preparatory school and students who graduate will meet minimum requirements for state schools in Georgia. Students should check for any additional requirements for acceptance in the colleges of their choice. Individual students transferring into Bible Baptist School are evaluated and a set course of study agreed upon.
In addition, eighty hours of community service will be required (20 each year). Students may begin accumulating community service hours in the summer before the ninth grade. Service opportunities must be approved in advance.
College and personal guidance and counseling are available through the guidance office.
Dual/Joint Enrollment
We will always endeavor to arrange the class schedule so that seniors who wish to participate in joint enrollment at AASU, Savannah Tech, or Savannah State may do so, if they meet all requirements.
